Emma Gathergood Background & Training In the 60s I trained as an Occupational Therapist and began working in a Psychiatric Clinic in London, running Encounter Groups and other Psychotherapeutic Groups. In the 70s I left work to raise my young family and became involved in setting up Women's Groups and Consciousness Raising Groups in Malvern. In the 80s I travelled extensively, including spending time in India studying Buddhism. Returning to England I did trainings in both Psychosynthesis and in Past Life Regression Therapy and set up my own small Healing Retreat in Glastonbury. In the 90s I did some training in Gestalt Therapy and set up my own Stress Management Consultancy. I also worked part time as a therapist using a C.B.T. approach within the NHS, and trained as a Life Coach. Since 2000 I have continued working part time in the NHS, specialising in the treatment of anxiety and depression, as well as working as a Life Coach. More recently I studied N.L.P. and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I have studied Bodymind research and have now developed my own method of working, utilising all my previous experience and training, which I call Bodymind Coaching. I am fascinated to discover that this 40 year journey of study and self healing has led me full circle back to where I started in the 60s . Occupational Therapy means " Therapy through Conscious Occupation " or " Healing through Conscious Activity " . Bodymind Coaching asserts that we heal the emotions, the mind, and the body through the integration of the spirit into the body. When that happens, we literally HEAL THROUGH CONSCIOUS ACTIVITY because we have re-connected to our own Healing Source Within. |
